The Dot Box is a collection of talented individuals devoted to helping you build your web presence and, in turn, build your business. Our work is standards-based, scalable, and smart. The collective experience of our three main teams will give you a leg up in today's constantly changing online marketplace.
Vincent Duke, founder and CEO of The Dot Box, heads up this team. Fascinated by digital technology as a kid, Vince became a computer repair technician for CompUSA by the age of 16. That year he also started his first company, setting up home computer networks and fixing customers' hardware and software problems.
A self-taught code writer and graphic designer, Vince has coast-to-coast experience as a web developer. Former employers include Security Identification Systems Corporation (SISCO) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Cendyn, a Boca Raton interactive marketing firm; and two San Francisco Bay Area online marketing companies: 729 Solutions and Flickerbox. For all the geeky details, read Vince's complete bio.
Nobody wants a boring website. We have assembled a creative design team with the expertise to make your site sing (literally and figuratively). From unique page layouts to graphics, logos, animations, audio, and video, we'll invent the online experience that's right for your business.
The Dot Box design team includes professional content writers to help you organize and structure your message. After all, a visually compelling site won't get you very far if people can't figure out what you're promoting -- and more importantly, understand its value to them.
Once your site is up and running, you need 21st-century marketing to drive business to it. Our online marketing group includes specialists in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), social media marketing (utilizing Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and other sites), and online advertising.
This team's services also include research to help you make strategic decisions. We track your hits, calculate your conversion rate (i.e., lookers turning into buyers), and find out how visitors are discovering your site. This information, and more, is summarized for you in a weekly report.
Unlike many web development companies, we write your html markup language (the code that displays your content) according to standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C. Why is this a big deal? If a site is built according to W3C standards, it will:
In today's economy, you can't afford to risk losing potential customers. That is why every web application we develop is W3C compliant. Notice how we display the icons at the bottom of our web pages. (Now that's allegiance!)
Here's an interesting test. If you want to see whether a certain website is W3C compliant, just type the site's URL in the box below.

Here's another methodology that distinguishes us from other developers: we follow the Agile development process to ensure that your project is completed efficiently and according to plan.
Agile is not a commercial brand name; it's a people-centric process involving short development cycles and regular communication with you, the client. We are big believers in it, having learned through experience the value of face-to-face communication, collaboration, and planning.
This disciplined approach enables us to create a solid foundation for your project -- even before one line of code is written. We've found that in the long run, it makes the best use of everyone's time and eliminates costly revisions.
